Every child has a story worth sharing.

Beyond Borders began with a simple belief: stories have the power to bring people together.

As a former secondary school teacher and the founder of Big Thinking Publishing, I have spent many years encouraging people to write, create and discover the confidence that comes from sharing their own voice.

Over time, I found myself asking a simple question:

What would happen if children from different countries could share their stories with one another?

Not stories written about them, but stories written by them.

Stories about the places they call home. Their traditions. Their families. Their celebrations. Their hopes, dreams and imaginations.

Although we may live thousands of miles apart, children everywhere laugh, wonder, create and dream. Their experiences may be different, but the joy of telling a story is something we all share.

Beyond Borders was created to celebrate those voices.

Rather than focusing on what separates us, the project encourages children to discover what connects us, while celebrating the wonderful differences that make every community unique.

Through stories, poetry and artwork, children have the opportunity to become ambassadors for their own culture, sharing a little piece of their world with readers across the globe.

The result is more than just an anthology.

It is a collection of memories, ideas, traditions and imaginations that captures a moment in time through the eyes of young people.

My hope is that each edition of Beyond Borders will not only inspire children to read and write, but also encourage curiosity, kindness and understanding between communities around the world.

Because every child has a story worth telling.

And every story has the power to build a bridge.
