Your child’s story could travel around the world. 🌍
Beyond Borders is a free international creative project inviting children and young people to share something about their culture, heritage, traditions, community or everyday life through stories, poetry and artwork.
You don't need to take part through a school. Families can submit work directly, which means home-educated children, worldschoolers and children whose schools aren't participating are all very welcome.
What can my child create?
They could submit:
a short story
a poem
a piece of artwork
It doesn't need to be about their country. We want children to tell us something about their world. That might be a family tradition, a favourite local place, a celebration, food, language, childhood game, community, family history, or simply what everyday life looks like where they live.
What happens to their work?
Every entry will be read, and selected pieces will be included in the first Beyond Borders international anthology, alongside work created by children in other parts of the world. We’ll contact the parent or carer of every child whose work is selected for the anthology. As a small team, unfortunately we can’t reply to every submission individually, so if you don’t hear from us, it means your child’s work hasn’t been selected this time. We’re incredibly grateful to every young person who shares their creativity with us.
Does it cost anything?
No. Taking part is completely free.
Who can take part?
Children and young people can enter through their school or independently with a parent/carer. We are looking for work from children aged 16 - 17.
How do we enter?
1. Create something.
2. Complete the submission form with your child.
3. Send us their work by 31 January 2027.
4. Keep your fingers crossed for the anthology!
What happens if my child’s work is chosen?
If your child’s work is selected for the anthology, they will receive a free physical copy of the finished book. Wherever in the world they live, we want every published young writer and artist to be able to hold the book they helped create.
